What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma?
We obtain Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, by drawing a small amount of blood from your arm into a sterile tube. This sample is centrifuged to separate your plasma, which we use for the treatment, from your red and white blood cells. Plasma contains high concentration of platelets, stem cells and growth factors. Platelets help your tissue heal and grow new cells.
What Are the Benefits of Microneedling With PRP?When PRP is used with microneedling, it penetrates your skin through the tiny channels the microneedles create. The PRP supercharges the microneedling benefits. PRP also addresses under-eye puffiness and dark circles to give you a more youthful, well-rested appearance. Since PRP is derived from your own blood, the side effects are virtually eliminated.

FAQ
How does microneedling work?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves pricking the skin with tiny sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger.
How old do I have to be to receive microneedling at Renew Wellness and Aesthetics?
At Renew Wellness and Aesthetics, we begin treatment at age 18. No one under the age 18 will receive treatment, regardless of parental consent. There is no upper age limit to receiving treatment.
Is there anything I should not do after my treatment?
Microneedling is a quick and safe in office procedure with little to no downtime. Tiny sterile needles are used to prick your skin and create microscopic wounds. The microscopic wounds enable your body to enter a healing phase which creates more collagen and elastin. We recommend the following precautions after your treatment in order to optimize your results:
- Avoid strenuous exercise or activity as for at least 72 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid sunscreen for 24 hours, if possible. After that, apply sunscreen any time you are going outdoors. Minimize sun exposure for the first 7 days after your treatment.
- Avoid swimming or any submersion in water for 24 hours after the procedure.
- Do not use any other skin care products besides the LIFT HG serum you are given at your appointment for the first 24 hours following your procedure. If you run out of the LIFT HG, you may use Aquaphor or a non comedogenic, unscented lotion (we recommend (Cereve Moisturizing Cream).
- Do not use your regular skincare products such as Vitamin C serum, hyaluronic acid serums, retinoids, glycolic or salicylic based cleansers for 7 days after your treatment
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, naprosyn, etc for 7 days following your treatment.
- Do not use ice, arnica gel, or bromelain on your skin for 7 days after your treatment.

Are there any possible side effects to microneedling?
Microneedling is a safe and quick in office procedure with little to no downtime. The most common side effect to the treatment is a sun burn like appearance following your treatment that gradually improves over the next 3-7 days. A small percentage of people may experience the following side effects:
- Bleeding
- Bruising
- Redness
- Tightness
- Itching
- Peeling
Typically these side effects are mild and go away without any other treatment over the next several days.
Are there any contraindications to receiving a microneedling treatment?
Yes. There are a few contraindications to microneedling treatments.
- Active acne, especially inflammatory lesions
- Active herpes (cold sores) or other open lesions in the treatment area.
- Active skin cancer in the treatment area.
- Active infection in the treatment area.
- Allergies to stainless steel or topical anesthetics.
- Immunosuppression or uncontrolled Diabetes
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Bleeding or clotting disorders
- Current or recent (within the last 6 months) use of any drugs containing the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane).
- History of extreme keloid scarring.
There are very few people with true contraindications to microneedling treatment. If you have concerns or questions, our trained professional aesthetics injectors will be able to assist you during your consultation and let you know if treatment is right for you!
Am I allowed to touch my face after treatment?
We recommend avoiding touching the treatment area for a minimum of 6-24 hours. The micro channels that were created during the treatment need time to heal and touching these areas can increase the risk of infection following the procedure.
Can I wear makeup after my treatment?
We recommend avoiding any makeup for the first 24 hours after your treatment. Following this, you may apply mineral makeup. After 72 hours, you may apply your regular makeup.
How soon after microneedling can I go back to normal exercise regimen?
Patients can resume normal daily activities immediately following treatment. Light exercise can be resumed 24 hours after your treatment. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for 72 hours after your treatment.
Can I receive treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Unfortunately there is very little research or data regarding microneedling in pregnant or nursing individuals. You can safely resume or initiate treatment after you have delivered your baby and/or weaned from nursing.
How soon can I drink alcohol after my treatment?
We recommend avoiding alcohol for 72 hours following your treatment. Alcohol has dehydrating properties which can slow your skins healing process. Alcohol can also cause flushing and increase bruising if consumed too soon after treatment.
How long can I expect my treatment to last?
Microneedling is not permanent since the skin is a living tissue subject to continuous transformation. Additionally, each individual's skin is different; hence, how long the results of a microneedling pen last vary from person to person depending on various factors. You can expect the effects of your microneedling treatment and the increase in collagen to last any where from 3 to 6 months. We recommend a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. After finishing the series of treatments, your results could last up to several years if proper skincare is maintained.
Are there any possible complications?
Complications related to a microneedling procedure are rare. There is a small risk of infection, allergic reaction, pain, as well as scars and texture changes of the skin.
What should I do if I have concerns after my treatment?:
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our trained professional injectors at 740-400-0805 or by email at [email protected]
How long can I receive microneedling treatments for?
There is no limit to the number of microneedling treatments you can receive as long as they are spaced 4-6 weeks apart to allow proper healing in between treatments.
When should I schedule my appointment for my next treatment?
We recommend spacing your treatments 4-6 weeks apart to allow for proper healing of the skin between each treatment. We typically ask to schedule your next appointment at the time of your treatment in order to secure your spot and remove any guessing from the process.
How many treatments are typically necessary?
Every individual treatment will improve the look and feel of your skin. All skin types are different and thus require a different number of treatments. Our team members are trained to assess your skin, help determine your goals, and establish a plan for treatment. It is common to need 3-4 treatments 4-6 weeks apart in order to achieve significant improvement or resolution of some skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation (dark spots/age spots), acne, acne scarring. At your initial consultation, our team members will help develop a plan for you.
